The representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Benson on Friday inspected some of the ongoing projects that he facilitated from the Federal Government in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) and Ikorodu Local Government, to know their state and readiness.
The projects among many others ongoing across the six council areas in Ikorodu Federal Constituency are sustainable efforts by the federal lawmaker to bring renewal of infrastructure in his constituency.
Rep. Benson, a three – term lawmaker who was accompanied by Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, Chairman Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ameen Ibrahim Apanisile, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Adedayo Ladega, Chairman, Ikorodu LG, Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, the Director – General, iCare Foundation and Executive Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Parking Management, Comrade Lekan Biliamin Oba, Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Social Development, Councillors in Ikorodu, representatives of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Associations (CDAs), among others visited the 11- km Offin–Oreta Road, 2.5 – km Selewu Road, the Trauma Centre at the General Hospital, Ikorodu, and the 3.8 km Olu Odo Road.

Hon Benson expressed satisfaction at the rate of progress as regards the projects so far stating that some of them would be completed and commissioned soon.
“I inspected some ongoing projects that I facilitated across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
“In the company of members of my iCare family, party faithfuls, and the executive chairmen of Ikorodu Local Government, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, and Ikorodu North LCDA, we were warmly received by residents and stakeholders in each community.
“I am truly impressed by the progress recorded so far – most of these projects are at their final stages and will soon be completed and commissioned.”

Rep. Benson emphasised that when completed, the projects would improve the conditions of living of Ikorodu federal constituents.
“These infrastructural developments will bring the much-desired relief and improved living conditions to our people, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
“Ikorodu is moving forward – steadily, strongly, and with renewed hope.”
Speaking during the inspection at Offin/Oreta Road where the team inspected the ongoing drainage works, culvert installations, and preparatory stages for streetlight fittings, (the contractor assured that work remains on schedule for completion by December 2025), Rep. Benson, commended JRB, the construction company handling the project for transforming the area.

“I remember how this place was in the days when it was impassable and now I’m seeing what you’re doing and I’m seeing a lot of developments , yes, this is attributed to the Renewed Hope project of Mr President. Mr President’s hope has brought value for the people in this axis. They thought this was going to be impossible. Now it is done.”
Similarly, the Selewu Road project has reached an advanced stage, with drainage systems completed and pavement base layers in progress, while the Olu-Odo Road project is nearing completion with asphalt laying already underway.
At Olu – Odo, residents lauded the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency for his intervention not only in constructing the community road but also in other parts of Ikorodu.

They urged Rep. Benson to ask the contractor to include walkways on both sides of the project to enable students and residents walk without fearing any contact with vehicles on the road.
Omo’ba Hammed Aroyewun, Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA whose council is hosting the three road projects – Offin/Oreta Road, Selewu Road, and Olu-Odo Road, commended the exceptional lawmaker for his unwavering commitment to the development of his constituency, describing him as both a blessing and pride of Ikorodu Division.
“He is a blessing and pride to our constituency whose visionary leadership continues to deliver tangible progress to our people.
“Hon. Babajimi Benson has consistently shown what true representation means. His advocacy and influence at the federal level have brought visible transformation to Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. We are proud of his legacy of purposeful service and grateful to him for his continued partnership,” Aroyewun said.

Chairman Aroyewun also commended the Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Associations (CDAs) for their continuous collaboration with the council, emphasising that community participation remains essential to sustaining inclusive development.
He further applauded the contractors for maintaining professional standards, assuring residents that the council will continue to monitor progress and provide the needed support to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality infrastructure.
“These roads are already transforming our communities. Once completed, they will further open up the local economy, ease movement, and enhance the overall quality of life for our people,” he noted.

“Truly, Hon. Babajimi Benson deserves every praise. Yìn’ní yìn’ní kí ènì lè ṣe ẹmi oo — to celebrate a man of impact is to honour a living legacy. He remains a dependable bridge between governance and the grassroots, and his footprints will be remembered for generations,” Omo’ba Aroyewun added.
Aroyewun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with Rep. Benson and other key stakeholders to sustain the pace of development across the LCDA.
The tour drew warm receptions from residents and school children, particularly in the Selewu Community, where enthusiastic crowds and excited school children trooped out to cheer and welcome the lawmaker and his team.
